ABOUT ME- - FORGING LIGHT AND HERITAGE

The Essence of Struunt

At Struunt, every image is a dialogue between photography and aesthetic appreciation, a reflection of the very essence of objects. My artistic approach goes beyond mere visual beauty, seeking innovative viewpoints that transform discarded fragments, reclaimed wood pieces, or traditional clogs into compositions that speak of memory, silence, and unexpected beauty. Struunt is the canvas where my artistic vision comes to life, an extension of my passion for light, material, and art.

A Life Through Lenses and Light

My name is Javier Alarma, and my life has been a constant dialogue with images. For 25 years, I explored the secrets of light and composition as a director of photography for Asturias' regional television, building atmospheres and sets that brought stories to life. But my connection to photography transcends the professional; it's a passion that has accompanied me since childhood, a calling forged with every page of the first photography encyclopedia I patiently saved up for at just ten years old.

I've had the privilege of training with great masters of photography and lighting, absorbing knowledge through numerous master's degrees and courses. Every lesson, every experience, has deepened my understanding of art and enriched my own vision. I am a lover of art in its highest expression, and my camera is an extension of that devotion.

Roots and Reinvention: My Artistic Process

What drives me to create is a visceral connection to my homeland, Asturias, and a profound fascination with wood as a living element of nature. My art is born in the deep forests of Caso, within the Redes Natural Park, a sanctuary where inspiration flows as freely as the rivers that traverse it.

My work is a quest for reinvention. I rescue "madreñas" (those ancestral Asturian clogs that symbolize our rural heritage), and I transform them. I deconstruct them, study them, and then reconstruct them with an invented formula, creating new works of art. It's an alchemical process where the history of an everyday object intertwines with a new visual narrative, imbuing it with unexpected and contemporary beauty. Each piece is a dialogue between the traditional and the avant-garde, between the roughness of wood and the subtlety of the light that defines it.

Value and Authenticity in Every Piece

My photographs don't just capture beauty; they embody essential values. I use reclaimed wood and meticulous processes that respect both the material and the environment, reflecting a commitment to sustainability. The quality of my prints is paramount, ensuring the longevity of each artwork.

For the discerning collector, exclusivity and authenticity are as valuable as the artwork itself. Each of my fine art photographs is offered in strictly limited editions, guaranteeing a unique and rare piece that not only elevates the intrinsic value of your acquisition but also enhances its potential for future appreciation in the art market.

To secure your investment and certify the provenance and originality of each artwork, every photograph comes with a hand-signed, dated, and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Recognitions and Glimpses

While my professional career has focused on creating images for television, my foray into art has been recognized. I had the honor of receiving a Motiva Award in the video art for advertising category, a distinction that, though not purely photographic, validates my ability to narrate and evoke emotion through moving images.

My art is the culmination of a life dedicated to light, form, and beauty. It's my way of honoring the essence of my land, transforming raw material into an expression that invites reflection and wonder.
